Final Performance: Public Speaking Level 2
Last Sunday, we learned a couple of new things. Among them, we learned that Pakistan has one of the world’s longest highways (and arguably the most beautiful one) called Karakoram Highway. Also, did you know that, contrary to popular beliefs, homeschool children might even have more friends than normal school children?
These are the few things we learn from the Final Performance by the students of Speak Smart: A Public Speaking Class Level 2 on Sunday September 15, 2019.
It was a Sunday morning. Four students - Pahn, Prin, Leon and Jin - came to Crimson Education office early to do a final rehearsal for their speeches. Less than two hours later, their parents came. The Final Performance is a tradition of the Public Speaking class. It’s a culmination of the eight-week course where students give a talk of their choice to a live audience. Even as a public speaking coach, I still get nervous and feel funny in my stomach every time I give a talk. The students must have felt nervous too, but they managed to pull it off with smiles on their face and laughters from the audience!
The four talks came in a range of topics. From a Pakistan tour agency sales pitch to President Trump impersonation, the talks also deep-dived on the philosophy of a great education.
The students managed to surprise the audience with their original talks. There were laughters and jokes. There were some presentation slides and pizza. The Sunday event was yet another day where they gave a public talk. I hope they would continue to inspire more people as they grow.
Here are more photos and videos from that day!
